REVERENCE, a new art installation by artists Anna Blom and Alex Mills, will take place on 3 and 4 October 2026 in the chapel at Brompton Cemetery, Chelsea. The exhibition combines large-scale paintings, sound, and live performance to explore how we stay connected to the natural world that sustains us.
Blomβs monumental paintings were created outdoors on the Swedish forest floor using raw pigments, incorporating elements of the forest itself. These artworks bring the colours, rhythms, and atmosphere of the natural landscape into the chapel space.
Mills has developed a generative sound installation centred on breath, symbolising our ongoing exchange with nature. Layers of strings and percussion ebb and flow, evolving in real time through coding and visual programming, so the soundscape never repeats exactly.
Together, the artworks transform the chapel into a contemplative space designed to help visitors slow down and reconnect. The weekend programme includes a live improvisation with cellist Clare O'Connell on Saturday 3 October at 3pm, and a breathwork workshop led by Jamie Clements on Sunday 4 October at 11am (tickets Β£10).
The chapel is accessible via Fulham Road or Old Brompton Road, London SW10 9UG. REVERENCE offers a unique opportunity for Chelsea residents and visitors to engage with art that reflects on our relationship with the environment in a historic local setting.
